This workshop is an introduction to mixed methods designs. We will start with an overview about the history and basic assumptions of the “mixed methods research” approach (MMR). We will explain what qualitative and quantitative methods have in common and their differences and we will discuss various concepts of their integration. We will present different designs of mixed method studies using examples of our own research. The participants are asked to bring their own research questions. This will allow us to work with specific research designs during the workshop. In addition we will discuss possibilities of the analysis of mixed methods data and issues of validity in mixed methods research.
Conditions of participation: Participant should bring their own research questions. This will allow us to work with specific research designs during the workshop.
